Daily life
Lisbon is a capital / metropolis on the coast; Barcelona is a capital / metropolis on the coast. Lisbon is the best-connected and most international city in Portugal, with sunshine, a big nomad scene and direct flights to the US. It is also the most expensive Portuguese city and the one with the tightest housing, so budget for rent first. Barcelona combines a city beach, mountains within reach, great public transport and a huge international scene. It is also one of Spain's priciest cities, noisy and crowded with visitors, and Catalan is the co-official language.
