Daily life
Madrid is a capital / metropolis; Seville is a large city. Madrid is Spain's capital and its best-connected city: world-class museums, a superb metro, big-city jobs and nonstops to much of the US. It is landlocked, hot in summer and cold in winter, and rents sit near the top of the Spanish range. Seville is Spain's most atmospheric southern city: monumental, affordable, and made for long evenings outdoors. It is also very hot in summer and has fewer English speakers and no direct North American flights.

Living in Seville: the upsides and downsides
- Lower rents than Madrid, Barcelona or Malaga in our estimates
- Superb monuments, tapas and festivals
